John's Story

I started my journey at Tegel as the Site Finance Manager at Tegel in Henderson, where I led performance reporting and governance.  After three years, I was promoted to Group Commercial Manager at head office, and now I’m Head of Commercial Finance with oversight across operations, revenue and agriculture.

My first role working at the Henderson site gave me a real perspective on the value of what I did and the tangibility of the numbers, and that was invaluable as I transitioned into a head office role. 

My role is varied and dynamic, I lead a team focused on financial reporting, commercial analysis, risk management and financial controls. Mornings are when I do my best thinking, so I appreciate the flexibility to start early and dive into the numbers.

One of the most rewarding challenges I’ve tackled was rethinking our approach to standard costing. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me question long-standing practices, an experience that’s strengthened my critical thinking skills.

Tegel is constantly evolving, and I’ve had the opportunity to grow with it. Stepping into new roles, developing my capabilities while working alongside inspiring leaders.
