We’re now looking for an experienced Plant Engineer with proven mechanical leadership to join our high‑performing Christchurch Engineering team and help us keep New Zealand’s favourite poultry brand running at its best.

A day in the life of Plant Engineer

  • In this pivotal role, you’ll be the driving force behind plant reliability and performance. Your day will include:
  • Leading and developing a team of 14 skilled engineers to meet targets and maintain strong capability across all key skill sets.

    Managing maintenance activities to maximise plant uptime through effective breakdown response and proactive preventative maintenance

    Taking ownership of downtime management and ensuring maintenance is carried out to agreed standards.

    Building strong working relationships with key contractors to ensure seamless service delivery and optimal resource use

    Overseeing cost control, materials usage, and inventory management within budget

What will you bring?

  • People management skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Strong trade skills and diagnostic capability
  • A relevant Mechanical Engineering Trade Qualification/Registration (minimum Level 4)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering or maintenance leadership role
  • Solid understanding of EHS, Food Safety, and Quality standards
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems
  • Maintenance reliability, asset care, and failure analysis knowledge
  • Electrical knowledge (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time‑management skills
