About the Role

A rare and exciting opportunity has opened for a National Livestock Planner to take the lead in shaping the future of our livestock planning strategy. In this pivotal role, you’ll bridge the gap between high-level national planning and regional execution—ensuring our livestock operations run with precision, efficiency, and forward-thinking insight.

You’ll be at the centre of developing technical specifications, evaluating placement plans, and delivering livestock plans that align seamlessly with organisational standards. If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy leading others, and want a role where your impact is both visible and valued, this could be your next big move.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage the planning process to ensure catching plans deliver broilers into processing plants within agreed lead in times with efficient use of resources.
  • Guiding and mentoring livestock planners to build long-term capacity plans that support sustainable livestock supply.
  • Leading excellence across quality, relationships, risk management, and team direction.
  • Ensuring demand shifts are anticipated early and livestock constraints are clearly represented in processing plans.
  • Translating demand for live birds, day-olds, and hatching eggs into accurate hatching egg requirements.
  • Monitoring biological performance across hatchery and broiler operations, identifying trends, and updating forecasts.
  • Developing contingency plans for demand fluctuations and ensuring optimal use of livestock capacity.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly placement and kill schedules to meet plant and customer requirements with precision.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years’ experience in poultry, agriculture, or rural development.
  • Strong practical knowledge of livestock planning and forecasting.
  • Hands-on experience in breeding, hatchery, and broiler operations.
  • Proven leadership capability.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Solid understanding of livestock information systems and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of biosecurity practices.
  • Strong familiarity with MTech systems.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

    What’s in It for You

  • On-site car parking

  • Up to 4% Kiwisaver contribution
  • Medical and life insurance
  • Access to staff product sales
