About the roles:
Due to a retirement and staff progression, we're looking for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our Engineering team in Christchurch. In this role no day is the same - you'll carry out both preventative and general maintenance, with a strong focus on reducing downtime and improving plant efficiency.
While experience in an FMCG processing environment would be an advantage, it's not essential if you have the right skills, but a willing and keen attitude is a must.
Reporting to the Plant Electrical Engineer, you will work a 4-days on, 4-days off roster. Shift time 3.00am – 3.00pm.
Key responsibilities:
- Responding quickly to breakdowns, setting priorities, and taking action to minimise downtime
- Carrying out preventative maintenance to avoid issues before they occur
- Planning and scheduling work to ensure plant availability, including ordering or requesting parts as required
- Performing failure analysis on equipment downtime that meets the agreed trigger points
- Building your technical expertise through training and development opportunities
- Supporting improvement projects, identifying opportunities, and helping design solutions
We're seeking skilled, reliable, and composed individuals who can excel under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About you:
- Relevant Trade Qualification - EWRB Registered Electrician with a current full practising licence is essential
- Experience in preventative maintenance and fault-finding
- Experience with electrical control systems (PLC’s, Safety Systems, Instrumentation, VSD's, motors and plant automation)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to work across all levels of the plant
- A flexible approach to working hours/days, including weekends & overtime
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
